![]() I can't compare the PS4 versions to the PS5 because I don't have access to the new console, but I can give my advice for prospective players out there who are on the fence between the PS4 and a low / midrange PC. I also noticed that dialogue audio in the cutscenes appeared to sometimes get out of sync, and be prepared for your PS4 fans to kick on quite loudly after playing the game for more than a few minutes. The texture loading is worse than the Pro, and the frame drops in street battles is also more noticeable on the older hardware. While Versus mode felt fine, the bulk of issues became more present in World Tour where background NPCs walk around like a slideshow and phase out of existence after a short distance. I still wouldn't call SF6 on the original PS4 an ugly game, but it's certainly not as impressive as basically every other version that's going to be available. Load times appear to be longer, the characters in gameplay have less anti-aliasing applied, and any issue on the Pro is notably worse on the base PS4. It became quickly clear, however, that the step down from the PS4 Pro to the PS4 is greater than the PS5 to the PS4 Pro though I still wouldn't necessarily classify it as bad. Some of the textures certainly aren't as crisp, but the fighter character models are all still very sharp and pretty on the PS4 Pro.Īside from the potential 1 extra frame of input delay on the PS4 Pro compared to PS5, I could easily see events running SF6 on the older hardware just fine though that doesn't mean there aren't some drawbacks.Īs far as any other complaints I have about the PS4 Pro for SF6, there's just some noticeable texture loading / pop-in present in World Tour mode as well as lower frame rate during matches on the street - but it sounds like that's an issue pretty much across the board at the moment.Īfter spending a decent chunk of time with the demo on the Pro, I ran through the same modes on my launch PS4 to see it would also impress me. Versus mode gameplay felt smooth, and I never noticed any slowdown or frame drops that would pretty much ruin the experience if present. Street Fighter 6 is absolutely gorgeous on PS4 Pro on a 4K TV / monitor, and all of the flashy visual effects seem to be intact as well. I can happily say, however, that I was very pleasantly surprised to see how well SF6 appears to run and look on the PS4 Pro in the new demo.Įven as a last-gen version of a next-gen fighting game, Street Fighter 6 is not only one of the best looking games in the genre available on the PS4 Pro but one of the best looking video games on the system in general. ![]() My worries were also compounded from my beta experience running SF6 on my PC of comparable strength to the PS4 Pro yet barely met the minimum requirements to play effectively. Capcom has certainly released some beautiful games on PS4 that use the RE Engine like Resident Evil 2 and also run well like Devil May Cry 5, but I was getting a little nervous for SF6 being considered more of an afterthought following more recent titles like the Resident Evil 4 Remake.
